Big Fish - Life is Like a Fairy Tale.
Big Fish was released in the United States on December 10, 2003 and
in Japan on May 15, 2004. This movie was directed by Tim Burton, and it is
based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Daniel Wallace. Tim Burton directed
many popular works such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Johnny
Depp and the Disney film The Nightmare Before Christmas, and so on.
The main theme of this movie is
reconciliation between father and son. Edward, the father of his son Will, is
good at telling stories about his life and attracting listeners. Will himself
liked his father's eccentric stories when he was young, but as he grew older,
he realized that they were fiction and couldn't listen to him honestly. At
Will's wedding, when Edward entertains guests with stories of catching a big
fish, Will can't stand it and becomes unilaterally estranged from his father.
Big Fish is a fantasy comedy-drama movie, and it is also used as a script for Japanese musicals. When I hear fantasy movies, I have the image of a story that is far from reality. However, the movie unfolds with two sides: the world of reminiscence and the world of reality. At first, you may be confused by the beginning part of the story, but later you will understand everything, so please try watching to it from beginning to end.
